Description
Autumn scene of a cottonwood tree looking over a series of rapids in the Narrows of Zion National Park in Utah. The Narrows are the premier slot canyon to hike through, extending for several miles through the Virgin River, it is often times narrow with canyon walls soaring over 2000 feet above. The hike through the Narrows is an adventure itself, often requiring treading on slick rocks and wading through knee, waist and sometimes higher water depths all the while trying to stay steady against the current as well as avoiding sudden deep spots in the river. Other times it involves scampering over rocks.
The narrows are known for the warm colors of the canyon walls which are the result of sunlight reflecting of the walls of the canyon. The beauty seen here make the hike worthwhile.
